Kick-off meeting at the European Commission

The CHE (CO2 Human Emission) project, coordinated by ECMWF and funded by the EU, kicked off on 2nd and 3rd October 2017. The CHE Consortium met in Brussels with stakeholders from the European Commission and other organisations to begin activities that will span the next three years.

The aim of the CHE project is to explore the development of a European system to monitor human activity related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions across the world. Such capacity is vital to support Europe's leading role in worldwide action to address climate change.

The first day of the Kick-Off Meeting was open to external participants and was devoted to introducing the CHE project and its objectives to the stakeholders and identify synergies with other initiatives, including the H2020 VERIFY project. In addition, the European Commission presented its interest in the CHE project and the current and future activities in this domain.

The 2nd day was an internal meeting and focused on the technical aspects and planning of activities for the upcoming period.
